school board passes resolution to rank students according to fall semester grades

The Fabens ISD school board passed a resolution on Wednesday regarding student class rankings amid COVID-19.

Students will be ranked according to grades posted at the end of the 2019-2020 fall semester.

The resolution states:

For the purpose of determining honors to be conferred during graduation activities, the
District shall calculate class rank in accordance with this policy and administrative
regulations at the end of the 2019-20 fall semester of the senior year.

The resolution will apply to the remainder of the school year unless the board takes further action.

On March 23, Fabens ISD began the closure of the district to protect the health and safety of staff and students.

Governor Greg Abbott has ordered schools to close for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.
