Fabens Cross Country Freshmen Go to State
EL PASO, TX – Two Fabens High School freshmen will compete in the UIL Cross Country State Meet.
Alexia Martinez placed fourth, and Angel Quiñonez placed 20th in the regional meet held on October 24, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas. Both girls are delighted to be representing Fabens ISD at state level.
“I feel really excited. I would like to thank my family, friends, team, and coach,” said Quiñonez. She has been running for three years and will work to continue to compete at state level for the next three years as well. She would like to run professionally.
Martinez has been running since 7th grade and aims to get a scholarship and continue succeeding in her studies and career. “I am very proud of myself. I would like to thank my family, friends, my whole team, and coaches for their continued support,” she said.
Coach Manuel Hernandez is very proud of his team, who work very hard to make these strides.
Martinez and Quiñonez will compete in Austin on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
