Fabens ISD Exploring All Options for Historic 1925 Fabens High School Site

Fabens ISD Exploring All Options for Historic 1925 Fabens High School Site

The Fabens Independent School District (FISD) continues to evaluate the best course of action following the fire that severely damaged the historic 1925 Fabens High School building. The district is exploring all potential options to determine the most responsible next steps.

The safety of our community remains our highest priority, and demolition may ultimately be necessary to protect the public. We are exploring other options. This process is complex and requires careful consideration of safety concerns, financial feasibility, and the long-term interests of our community.

We understand the deep historical and cultural significance of this building and share in the community’s sadness over its loss. While we do not want to generate unrealistic expectations, we are committed to thoroughly exploring every viable option before proceeding with demolition.

FISD is also actively considering ways to honor and preserve the legacy of the 1925 Fabens High School. We will be seeking to engage with local historians, alumni, and community members to identify opportunities for commemoration that reflect the school’s place in our shared history.

We appreciate our community's continued support and understanding during this challenging time. Updates will be shared as we work through this process.
