What will you miss about high school?

I will miss the 5 am cross country and basketball practices because that is when I was at peace and got to be with my friends. I will also miss becoming friends with the freshman (even though that may sound weird) because I wanted them to feel welcome just like the upperclassmen made me feel when I was a freshman in high school.

I will miss the late-night last-minute essays/projects because that is when all my brain cells activated and made sure that I created the best work possible. I will also miss the sleep-overs that our basketball and cross country teams had for reasons I shall not explain. I will miss complaining about assignments and teachers at nearly 1 am nearly every night with my friend(s) as we worked on assignments that we procrastinated on.

I will miss slapping myself as hard as I could in class multiple times in order to stay awake or spraying water on myself when the teacher wasn't looking so that I could survive in the classroom. I will miss the cross country races because the feeling of passing out never felt any better. I am also going to miss playing basketball, especially during my senior year, because I know we left a mark on the sport. Basketball also helped me off the court because I realized that even if I shot my shot and missed, I'd have many more attempts and some would eventually land.

What teacher(s) made the biggest impact in your life?

Coach Manuel Hernandez and my mother, Mrs. Laura Avalos, had the biggest impact on my life.

Where does life take you after high school?

After high school, I will be attending The University of Texas at El Paso.

What do you see yourself doing in 5-10 years?

In 10 years, I see myself hopefully being a Doctor of Physical Therapy and running my own clinic.

Quote to live by?

"When life shuts a door... open it again. It's a door. That's how they work."
