Welcome to Cotton Valley Early College High School

CVECHS is a Texas Education Agency designated Early College High School program which is established by Fabens Independent School District through partnerships with Fort Hancock and our Institution of Higher Education (IHE) partner, El Paso Community College.   CVECHS serves students from the far West-Texas Cotton Valley area.    CVECHS students work toward the completion of a college Associate’s Degree, while participating in high school coursework that qualifies them for the Distinguished Achievement Graduation Plan (DAP), as well as Endorsements under Texas graduation requirements.  After completion of an Associate’s Degree, many of our seniors have an opportunity to continue work towards a Bachelor’s Degree at UTEP through the ECHS Scholarship.  This is all being completed while the students are still enrolled in high school.

CVECHS seeks goal-oriented students who are hardworking and highly motivated. We primarily serve students from Fabens ISD and our partner school districts, but we take applications and accept open-enrollment students from surrounding communities who are successfully promoted to 9th grade.  Our students focus their concentration on academics, but are also provided traditional high school experiences through participation in extracurricular and UIL activities with Fabens High School.  In addition, we also offer many activities that are exclusive to CVECHS students such as Student Council, National Honor Society, dances, clubs, and leadership, as well as community service opportunities.  Our students also have the opportunity to interact with college instructors and graduate student-interns from both El Paso Community College and The University of Texas at El Paso.

CVECHS teachers are dedicated to ensuring the success of our students and maximizing their academic capabilities. The vast majority of our instructors hold a Master’s degree or higher, or are working toward graduate level degrees in their content field. This not only exceeds NCLB requirements, but also credentials them as instructors at the college level.  In addition, CVECHS works with EPCC for accreditation purposes from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and meets all expectations outlined by the Texas Education Agency and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

If you would like additional information or have questions, please feel free to contact us through email at shogue@fabensisd.net or by phone at 915-765-2609.  Our application packet is also available on this website.
