With the advancement of today's technology, many tools and resources are becoming more accessible to students. This summer, Fabens ISD participated in the myOn Summer Reading Challenge, as students had access to an online library and then competed to see who could log the most hours on the app.
During a pep-rally earlier this month, superintendent Dr. Veronica Vijil presented the winners of the challenge free tablets for becoming the summer reading champions.
The winners were: Jose Bravo, Amy Rodriguez, Ariana Banez, and Adrian Gamboa.
English teacher Ms. Blanca Guererro thought the contest was beneficial for students.
"I appreciated the lots of options students had, so it made reading interesting. They had the chance to read novels, non-fiction books, and expository texts, " Guerrero said.
The fall MyOn Challenge has now begun and ends October 31.
