WELCOME to Fabens ISD for the 2010-11 school year! We are very excited about the upcoming challenges and opportunities that we anticipate will bring forth many successes for our students, community and school district. Our TEA Accountability Ratings for this year are in, and we are pleased to report the Fabens ISD met the requirements for EXEMPLARY DISTRICT! This great news is a reflection of hard work by our students, teachers, parents, community and administrators. It is our belief that working together we can make a difference in helping all our students to be successful learners. We are also proud of the campuses for their respective academic accomplishments. Fabens Elementary, O’Donnell Elementary and Fabens Middle School all obtained a Recognized Rating. Fabens High School received an Exemplary Rating which is an outstanding accomplishment for a high school. These are all outstanding accomplishments that we will continue to build on this school year.
We truly believe that Fabens ISD is one of the best districts in the state of Texas. In spite of the economic difficulties we are going through, our salary schedule for teachers, support staff and administrators continues to be competitive. The recent 3% general pay increase for all eligible employees approved by the board of trustees is indicative of the team support and trust they have in us in preparing our students for the future. In addition, we will continue to pay retention and perfect attendance bonuses to our employees. We also will continue to provide optimum growth opportunities for our teachers and staff by supporting them to be the very best at what they do.
The sounds of construction will again ring in our community. With the approval of our board of trustees, renovation work will commence at the vacated Fabens Primary campus which will become the O’Donnell campus that will serve 4th and 5th graders. We anticipate moving into this facility by the summer of 2011.
This year we will be opening the first Early College Program in the lower valley. The Cotton Valley Early College High School will open its doors this August. Through the partnerships with El Paso Community College, Tornillo ISD, Ft. Hancock ISD and Fabens ISD, we are excited to have the opportunity to host and provide this outstanding program to our lower valley students. This is an exciting time for the communities of Tornillo, Ft. Hancock and Fabens!
Our Wildcat “CAT-Site” continues to flourish and has become one of our main resources that keeps our community up to date on what is going on at Fabens ISD. We know that as you check out our web-site, you will find that we are a district with many opportunities and successes. We pride ourselves in being the engine that drives our community to success. With its rolling cotton fields, majestic pecan orchards and small town uniqueness, Fabens is the hub of the lower valley. We pride ourselves in how big we think about everything we do. We are very fortunate to have a community that is a strong advocate of establishing a great learning environment for all our students. Our current board members are all graduates of the Fabens school system, and their hearts beats are the drivers of providing the very best for all our students. Their leadership has been instrumental in the growth and overall success of the Fabens Independent School District.
In concert with community support, Fabens ISD is a district that believes that all children have a gift to offer, and it is our charge to ignite their fire to glow and grow. Fabens ISD is a small district with a big HEART! We are blessed to have the gift of small town values that will navigate our students to reach their dreams.
